Rocks
At an early age I became a “rock hound” investigating the geology of Illinois. My father used to take me to the abandoned strip mines for fishing. As an added bonus I discovered all kinds of small fossils there as well. My interest grew as besides fossils I collected geodes, granite, basalt, quartz and gypsum. When I moved out west I became inspired by the different rock formations especially if they included lichen or some kind of plant-life cohabitating in the boulders.
